Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the heart of Mason, Texas, Santos - The Silerio Family Restaurant offers an authentic and irresistibly flavorful Mexican dining experience that feels like a warm embrace from old friends. This beloved local gem specializes in classic Mexican cuisine, delivering fresh, handcrafted dishes that showcase rich, bold flavors and genuine family tradition.

The menu at Santos is a celebration of Tex-Mex favorites, with standout items that continue to win over both locals and travelers. Customers rave about the doble tacos, which are piled high with savory fillings and paired perfectly with their famously fiery red hot sauce — a sauce so addictive one guest admitted they could simply drink it! Another popular choice is the hefty tortilla pita bean and cheese burrito, a nostalgic favorite that transports you back to the heart of Hill Country with every bite.

For those craving an indulgent yet comforting meal, Santos’ brisket, pork, and fajita gorditas are a must-try. Each gordita, whether corn or flour, is made fresh to order, delivering a pillowy tortilla enveloping smoky, tender meats that melt in your mouth. The queso is also hailed as the best in town—creamy, cheesy, and perfectly spiced, ideal for dipping the crispy-toasted nachos or pairing with a brisket taco that easily competes for the title of “best taco ever.”

The dining atmosphere here is warm and inviting, with genuinely friendly staff who treat every guest like family. Whether you stop by after a lively local event—the 60th Annual Roundup Parade is a perfect example—or for a casual Saturday lunch during a Hill Country road trip, Santos retains its down-to-earth charm that hasn’t changed in over a decade. The upbeat, bustling vibe complements the fresh, vibrant dishes and the self-service drink station adds to the relaxed, unfussy feel.

What truly sets Santos apart is its dedication to authenticity and quality. The salsas, especially the roasted variant, pack complex smoky heat that accentuates the dishes without overpowering them, while accompaniments like freshly squeezed lime, zesty guacamole, and creamy sour cream elevate each bite. The food doesn’t just fill you up—it sparks joy, comforting and exciting your palate all at once.

For anyone traveling through Mason or looking for a genuine taste of Texas-Mexican cuisine, Santos - The Silerio Family Restaurant offers a culinary experience that’s as flavorful as it is heartfelt. With delicious, thoughtfully prepared dishes and a welcoming environment, it’s easy to see why this family-run spot remains a treasured destination on San Antonio Street.

We were recommended to Santos after picking up a Facebook marketplace find in town. They nailed it! Doble tacos were excellent and I could drink their red hot sauce!! So good and can’t wait to come back. The nicest staff working also.

This place is the jam when you catch it on a Saturday afternoon going back to Midland or Lubbock from the Hill Country! It feels the same just like it did 10yrs ago, except with an even more awesome, fat tortilla pita bean and cheese burrito :)

If you’re in mason you’ve gotta try them. They have the best queso ever! You can never go wrong with their nachos All of their gorditas, flour or corn are delicious and made to order. My favorites are the brisket, pork and the fajita gorditas Love all the salsas, especially the roasted one! Sometimes I order a brisket taco on a corn tortilla and it’s easily the best taco i’ve ever had! Love their garlicy rice. Everything is always fresh and they have some great desserts too. Can never go wrong with this place I recommend grabbing a wine slush from next door to enjoy with your food. I love the atmosphere. Great place!

Yummy. We ate there after the 60th Annual Roundup Parade. Pleased with our order. They were very busy.

The food was fresh, and the salsa was hot just the way we like it. I had the toquito plate. I really like the lime on the side. I had to order sour cream and guacamole as extra to dip the crispy toquitos into. The drinks are self-service. The service was friendly and helpful. The restroom was acceptable.
